Sportsmens Americana Music Foundation

The Foundation

Founded in 2014. A nonprofit on the same block as the rooms, built to keep Americana music in reach for Buffalo and Western New York.

Sportsmens Americana Music Foundation

Mission

To foster, promote and expand community appreciation for Americana music from Buffalo and Western New York through the production and sponsorship of performance and broadcast events and presentation of seminars and workshops on Americana music.

A core tenet is putting music within reach of as many kids as possible — lessons, vocals, and performance for underserved communities across the region.

What they do

  • Education. Instrument, vocal, and performance lessons in partnership with neighborhood groups, including the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, The Love Supreme School, the Valley Community Association, the Old First Ward Community Center, and Boys and Girls Clubs.
  • Foundation Night. Every 1st Tuesday, Twang Gang at Sportsmens is Foundation Night — SAMF members get in free. See the calendar.
  • Shows and festivals. The annual SAMF Festival, Szelestfest in honor of Buffalo’s Stan Szelest, Bluegrass Roundup, The Last Waltz, and other Americana nights on this block.
  • Membership. Join and the list of benefits keeps growing — discounts, member nights, and direct support for the programs.
